Using a VPN in iOS (iPhone, Ipod Touch and Ipad)

Step 1

From the home screen click on Settings. Then navigate -> General -> Network -> VPN

Step 2

In this screen click on "Add VPN Configuration"

Here you will need to select which protocol you are using. If you have a shared key (also known as PSK or secret key) then you will be using L2TP otherwise you will likely need to use PPTP. Enter a description for the connection (can be anything), the server name or IP address and then enter your username and password which has been granted access to the server.

If you are connecting by L2TP, you need to enter the shared key (PSK) into the entry box labelled "Secret". Leave all the other options at their default setting.

When done, hit "Save" in the top right.

Step 3

To start the connection, tap the VPN switch from "Off" to "On" and in a few seconds you should be connected. When the VPN is connected, a blue logo will be displayed in the status bar.

That`s it! A new option will now appear on the settings home page so that you can easily switch the connection on and off. To edit the connection details or create a new one just navigate back through Settings -> General -> Network -> VPN.
